Chapter 1

I Was Eight Months Pregnant When My Husband’s Mistress Drove Straight at Me—Then My Son Screamed Her Name
I was eight months pregnant when a car suddenly jumped the curb outside my doctor’s office in Atlanta.
I barely had time to turn around.
The car slammed into me and knocked me onto the grass.
People started screaming.
My hands immediately covered my stomach.
“My baby!”
The car stopped only a few feet away.
Then the driver’s door opened.
A woman stepped out.
I recognized her instantly.
Her name was Vanessa.
Three weeks earlier, I had found messages between her and my husband, Daniel.
Vanessa stared at me without moving.
“You were supposed to stay away from him,” she said.
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
“You did this on purpose?”
She glanced toward the parking lot.
Then she whispered, “You should have signed the divorce papers.”
My blood ran cold.
I had never received any divorce papers.
Before I could answer, someone screamed behind me.
“Mom!”
My ten-year-old son, Noah, came running out of the medical building with my sister.
He dropped beside me, crying.
Then he looked at Vanessa.
His face changed instantly.
“I know her.”
I grabbed his hand.
“What do you mean?”
Noah pointed at Vanessa’s car.
“That’s the woman Dad takes me to see.”
Vanessa suddenly rushed toward the driver’s seat.
But security guards were already running across the parking lot.
My phone started ringing beside me.
Daniel’s name appeared on the screen.
Noah answered before I could stop him.
“Dad?”
Daniel immediately shouted, “Noah, where is Vanessa?”
May you like
Everything around me went silent.
Then Noah looked at me with tears in his eyes and whispered, “Mom… Dad knew she was coming here.”
