SHOTS FIRED at White House - J.D. Vance Thrown in Vehicle, Secret Service Return Fire
Washington D.C. — A shooting occurred near the Washington Monument on Monday evening. A suspicious person fired at Secret Service agents and was neutralized.
The incident happened just minutes after Vice President JD Vance had left the area. Secret Service personnel responded to a confrontation with an armed individual.
A young person was hit in the incident and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The White House was briefly locked down and then given the all clear. The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the matter and advised people to avoid the area as roads remained closed.
The shooting took place on the National Mall, about a mile from the White House. The area was secured quickly.
This incident comes just over a week after the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting involving Cole Allen. Allen is accused of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump.
Allen made his initial court appearance last week. Prosecutors said he entered the Washington Hilton armed with multiple weapons.
He is charged with attempting to assassinate the president. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
Allen traveled by train from California to Washington. He checked into the Hilton and remained there before the incident.
When arrested, he had a 12-gauge shotgun and a .38-caliber pistol. He purchased the weapons in California in previous years.
Allen sent a manifesto to family members describing his intent to target President Trump and Cabinet officials. He criticized Trump and apologized to his family.
The recent events have heightened security concerns in Washington. No further details on the Monday shooting suspect have been released at this time.

“The most dramatic idea they discussed — which would involve an unusual gambit to replace the entire state Supreme Court, with a goal of reinstating their gerrymandered map — drew mixed reactions on the call,” Epstein reported.
Other ideas discussed included ways to flip two or three Republican-held seats under the current map and a “bank-shot proposal to redraw the congressional lines anyway.” Jeffries vowed that the ruling “will not stand,” and Democratic leaders in Virginia filed a motion late Friday seeking to pause the decision while pursuing an emergency appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
The call reflected what Epstein described as the “desperation and fury” currently gripping the party. It was not clear that the proposal to replace the court would be viable or palatable to Gov.
