That created the big bureaucracy that I ran into. You’d like to think the chief could call the shots, especially with my experience? Not the case on January 6th.”
He also confirmed receiving no direct FBI intelligence report warning of potential violence, despite the bureau issuing such a document on January 5. The report never reached his office, instead stalling within the department’s Intelligence Division.
These revelations come after the Justice Department’s Office of Inspector General claimed in a December 2024 report that “we found no evidence” of undercover FBI employees in the crowds. Wray himself testified in July 2023 that he did “not believe” undercover agents were present.
